What Should A Period Look Like ?

Just a few random observations, in no particular order:
There are a lot of pretty great people, but is that really a sign of historical wealth, right?

Why take over this (economic) catching-up countries really often just the bad aspects of western development? Commercialization, Nivellisierung, consumer culture and bad pop music.

This was once all Oestereich-Hungary. The one often thinks not of it, but you can tell who one is here.

Buchlaeden There are many, but, strangely, no one who is in the many Kaffeehaeusern reading.

The younger people can actually all quite good English.

The old ones are older than us. In appearance.

On the way from the airport into the city, I have allowed myself to pull off, unfortunately. Happened. Annoying nonetheless.

standing out I do not great, but somehow, most still remember once that I am a foreigner.

Especially on the road to the city center are still an incredible number of bombed-out building. Shocking. Reportedly, there were 2500 civilian deaths and 500 dead soldiers. I was told, at least, I have not checked that.

As in Istanbul, but still stronger than there seems to be unfortunately the Turkish coffee on the way out. The Westernization. Or that's about the West or even here?

As in Chile (Pablo Neruda), there is a celebrated national Author: Ivo Andic.

You can see very often images from a distant past Belgrade on the wall. Sign of a strong history of consciousness? The communist experiment Milosevic and suppress what years?

A bar is also, unfortunately, only a bar, a bar, and thus not particularly exciting.

It took me three minutes to do what I came here for 3 days.

light outside the city built a huge church. Thus, in the scale of the Cologne Cathedral and Notre Dame. From the outside it looks finished from the inside it is a body shop. Is that a post-communist war-induced return to religion? Maybe comparable to the construction of Sacre-Coeur in Paris?
